Assistant VP of Institutional Equity

March 5, 2021

Dear all,

I am writing to share news about Rachel Pereira and the EOAA office.  Rachel, who has reported to the Dean of Faculty as Director of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action (EOAA), will now report alongside Human Resources (HR) and Computer and Information Services (CIS) to Carlos García as Assistant Vice President for Institutional Equity. The EOAA function remains a priority for the President's Office and the institution overall.

With this change, we can better coordinate professional development, training, and employee relations activities across the Human Resources and EOAA functions.  At the same time, this move will not impact the processes currently in place for initiating Title IX and anti-discrimination complaints involving students, faculty, and/or employees.  Specifically, the Faculty Director of Affirmative Action, Colleen Cohen, remains in her role reporting to Dean Hoynes and will continue to collaborate closely with Rachel as needed; likewise, Rachel will continue to work with groups like FPCC as needed when regulatory developments require changes to the Faculty Handbook.

Please join me in congratulating Rachel on this change, which includes a promotion for Rachel, and thanking her and the EOAA team for their deep commitment to institutional equity.
