February 26, 2021

Dear all,

It is my pleasure to announce that the Board of Trustees has voted to re-appoint Dean Marianne Begemann for a five-year term as Dean of Strategic Planning and Academic Resources (DOSPAR). Marianne will continue in her role helping the College in long-term planning as well as overseeing the Vassar College Libraries, the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, Athletics and Physical Education, Wimpfheimer Nursery School, the Infant and Toddler Center, the faculty housing program, academic facilities, the Ecological Preserve, the Office of Sustainability, and the Exploring Transfer program.

I want to thank the review committee who evaluated Dean Begemann’s work and future potential including: Nancy Bisaha, Brian Daly, Kelli Duncan, Natalie Frank, Dara Greenwood, and Adedoyin Teriba. Together, they interviewed and surveyed dozens of faculty, students, administrators, and staff to conduct their review and were unanimous in their recommendation for re-appointment. Their report specifically highlighted the overwhelming support for Dean Begemann’s re-appointment across groups, noting her conscientiousness, commitment, open-mindedness, and excellent capacity to listen to diverse viewpoints and be an advocate for faculty and students in institutional decision making.

Please join me in congratulating Dean Begemann and thanking her for her exceptional contributions to the College.
