A Message From President Bradley Regarding COVID-19

Dear members of the Vassar Community,

I am writing to inform you that the COVID-19 crisis has touched the Vassar campus in a very personal way. We have just learned that a Vassar employee has tested positive for the virus. Following guidance from health officials and our protocol, we have immediately begun “contact tracing” to determine which staff, administrators, students, and faculty may have come in contact with this employee in the last two weeks. The employee is now self-isolating for two weeks, and will not return to work until cleared to do so.

This employee has not been on campus since March 15 and would not have been inside many buildings, so we are hopeful that risks to anyone else on campus is minimal. Because of privacy concerns, we will not be releasing the name of the employee.

On behalf of the entire Vassar community, I have offered this employee and the family our sympathy, and we are doing all we can to provide our support.

In the meantime, please make certain that you are practicing social distancing and good hygiene, as these are our community’s best defenses against this virus. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Thank you,

President Bradley
