Vice President of Communications

Dear all,

I am delighted to announce our new Vice President of Communications, Amanita Duga-Carroll. After an exhaustive national search, the search committee was most impressed with Duga-Carroll’s breadth of experience, energy, creativity, and new ideas.

Duga-Carroll came to Vassar in 2016 in the role of Director of Media Relations after a thirty-year career that included having been a reporter for daily newspapers, the Director of Media Services for the 12th largest police department in the country, and 19 years at Rubenstein Strategic Communications, one of the most respected public relations agencies in the country. At Rubenstein, she worked with clients ranging from our very own Vassar to BMW, MINI, American Express, the Tribeca Film Festival, the Riverside Church, and many others. She was also a member of the company’s management team responsible for decisions on new hires, salaries and promotions. In that role she also worked on professional development programs for the agency utilizing both external and internal resources. Duga-Carroll also ran her own company prior to coming to Vassar.

At Vassar, she has worked with students producing videos for the inauguration and being a liaison with the Misc, as well with the senior team and president’s office on a series of strategic communications related to DACA, the Tax Bill, Title IX, and other policy topics central to our campus community. She has also worked closely with Safety & Security and the Bias Incident Response Team, streamlining our internal and external communications in times of concern. Additionally she has introduced new media outreach tools to the Office of Communications, including the College’s first use of a multi-media release that included three videos and interactive content and a live webcast that included four pre-recorded videos narrated by students on aspects of life at Vassar and live pre-event activities narrated by students.

She has been a tremendous asset to Vassar and we look forward to her wise leadership in her new role. Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Amanita Duga-Carroll.

Thanks!

Betsy
